Share your Fights!

hmmmm, when did we not fight?? We just got done traveling for 13 months and it seemed like one fight after another. It’s no wonder we were actually able to have a good time. The funny (and perhaps sad) thing about our fights were that we were reading every travel blog we could find and it seemed like everyone was having the time of their lives and not fighting. Of course, who would be silly enough to write about it…hmmmmm. In fact, we found this one site where they said the hardest decision they had to make was what kind of wine to buy. What a bunch of BS!! Anyways, not only we were fighting a lot more than usual, we believed that we were the only ones. Which wasn’t true at all. That’s why I think your website is brilliant. How can you not fight when you are traveling–you are constantly lost, new, trying to find the right place to eat and sleep, tired from all the traveling, with your parter 24/7, and human!!

With that said, it’s funny because now that we have been settled for 2 months now, we can’t think of any particular fights to tell you about. I do have to say, most of our fights centered around the damn camera. Patty had to take photos of everything. And I mean everything. The ground, the trees, this, that–and not just one mind you. He took around 30,000 in 13 months and he isn’t even a photographer! I spent countless hours on our trip standing around in the hot sun while he took photos. Not fun. Awe, the things you learn about your spouse while doing long term travel.

Your website is a hoot! We seem to fight less and less as we get older – but we had some doozies when we were hot tempered youngsters! Veronica liked to throw things at me for “stress relief”!

When we first took off on the road, we had a few regarding traveling styles – Veronica laments what she calls my wham-bam-thank-you ma’am” have to see everything in a certain amount of time style. She prefers hanging out and getting a feel for a place. But we have made adjustments and seem to have found a groove! -David

My husband and I are um….how should I put this… Passionate!!! We have been on the road for 5 months and we’ve had everything from a tiff, to arguments, to fights, to full out nuclear explosions. It’s been quite a learning experience for the both of us!!! And I totally agree with Bert and Patty that we read other people’s travel blogs and they seem like they don’t fight at all! One couple even claimed they HAVE NEVER HAD ONE SINGLE ARGUMENT THIER ENTIRE RELATIONSHIP! I wanted to scream when I read that! It can’t be true!!!!! Lol, thank you for sharing your experiences, it makes the rest of us feel human!

Kieran and I lived, worked and traveled together for 8 months last year but it felt like an absolute lifetime. Don’t get me wrong we have a great time together, but too much of each other and all hell breaks loose! I get annoyed, he gets stubborn, we say things we shouldn’t and he normally leaves to cool off. I apologize and then everything is OK again. You can’t move countries/travel/work together without fighting occasionally, its the making up that counts!
